I am Monique Williams, a recovering drug addict, who has recently started the ManHers Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Initiative, which is a registered NPO.
I have been clean since 2008, started my own clothing brand, OverDose® Urban Apparel, however felt the need to give back to the youth of South Africa. I decided, with much difficulty, to kick my drug habit and become the fashion designer I have dreamt about since I was 15 years old. I did not have the structural, emotional and mental support that I needed to break the drug stigma to achieve my dream. It was very difficult, I was just another statistic, I had my daughter and the last thing I wanted was for her to end up as another generational statistic. We at the ManHers Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Organization would like to be the support that so many youth require.
I would like for you to interview me on air, reaching as many schools, parents and children as possible.
We are introducing our initiative to the residents of Tshwane on the 31st August 2019 at the Eersterust Soccer Stadium.
The ManHers Mentorship and Entrepreneurship Initiative & OverDose® Urban Apparel will be hosting the "Kick The Habit Campaign" #UpliftMyHood, a day filled with fun for all families, friends & especially our youth.
A soccer event, with a purpose (trophies, medals & prizes to be won) kicking the habit against Drug Abuse and addiction.
We at ManHers would like to raise awareness about drug abuse and addiction amongst our communities, schools, parents and youth, providing workshops and Mentorship to youth who would like to start their own businesses, once we have raised enough funds to host these workshops.
These workshops are offered to youth who have no financial resources and live in drug inhibited homes.
We would like to invite school principals, teachers, students, parents and children to the event as we as an NPO feel that tackling the widespread epidemic from every angle that is stealing dreams from the youth of South Africa, is a much needed approach.
There are many talented youth in our country and we would like to create a safe outlet for youngsters, schools and parents who at times feel that there is no way out and petrified that their children might end up as another statistic.
The Organization is here to "Give Back Dreams".
Entrance to the event is free.
